The global emergency around COVID-19 is affecting all of us in unprecedented ways. What's clear is that for many people, day-to-day life looks very different at the moment.

ShareGrid is based in Seattle and Los Angeles, and our small team has been watching closely as the crisis has unfolded around the country. Our goal is to keep ShareGrid running as normal, while carefully monitoring state and federal advisories to help keep everyone safe.

We understand this is a stressful time for our community. We're seeing more cancellations of productions and live events, and we know a lot of our members are hurting financially. Many ShareGrid members have also come to depend on extra income from rentals, as well as access to affordable professional equipment. We want to keep these resources available to you.

A lot of people in this industry don't have the option of working from home. For those that will continue working on productions in the weeks and months ahead, we want you to know that ShareGrid remains open, and our team is online and ready to help with your questions and concerns. We all need to pull together and help each other to stay safe. Please ensure you take the following steps for all transactions on ShareGrid:

Observe the guidelines from the CDC to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

Clean gear thoroughly at the end of each rental. Follow manufacturer guidelines and official advisories about how to safely clean equipment.

Communicate openly with the other person in your rental. Let the other person know ahead of time if you feel unwell, if you have traveled recently, or have been in any large groups.

UPDATED CANCELLATION POLICY

Effective March 20, 2020

The situation around COVID-19 is rapidly evolving. The governor of California ordered that all residents of the state should stay at home except for essential activities. The governor of New York announced similar measures. These orders impact many of our members and our largest communities. Our hearts go out to all of those affected by this situation.In response, we are updating our site-wide Cancellation Policy to increase flexibility. All existing bookings for upcoming rentals may be cancelled without a penalty up to the start date of the rental.

Please note that bookings will not be cancelled or refunded automatically: as a renter, you must manually cancel a booking on the site before the rental begins in order to receive a full refund.

Renters and equipment owners who agree to continue with an existing rental booking are welcome to proceed, provided they can do so safely.

Rental bookings made from today onwards will be subject to the new flexible Cancellation Policy until further notice.

The majority of equipment owners on ShareGrid have already been extremely understanding and generous regarding cancellations, and we hope that spirit will continue.As a small business, we're doing everything we can to continue serving the ShareGrid community, keep the site running, and take care of our small team. We're here to help, but please be patient if takes longer than usual to receive a response from us. We appreciate all your support during these difficult times.Please be safe, and take care of each other.
